A new partnership between workforce operating system CoverMe Fitness and forward-thinking education provider FitIQ Education aims to address the ongoing disconnect between certification and work-ready fitness professionals.
By supporting instructors earlier in their career journey and guiding them as they enter the industry, the collaboration will help to provide a pipeline of confident and connected fitness professionals ready for the workplace.
Lou Crossland, chief commercial officer, CoverMe, says:
“This partnership ensures learners enter the industry ready to thrive. With CoverMe embedded into the learning journey, we’re opening pathways to real job opportunities while providing operators with trusted, work-ready instructors to raise professionalism and standards across the sector.”
FitIQ Education delivers UK-regulated qualifications across the UK and UAE. Learners will be introduced to CoverMe Fitness during their training through an academy-style app that provides real-world insight into how the industry operates, how to build networks and position themselves professionally.
At the end of their learning pathway, FitIQ courses will include a dedicated CoverMe module designed to connect graduates directly to operators and venues, employment and freelance roles, the gig economy and flexible work opportunities.
A student engagement platform offers rewards and discounts at no cost to learners, creating an additional incentive to join the professional community early and remain engaged as their careers develop.
Evelyn Mair, Founder and Director of FitIQ Education, says:
“Our aim is to bridge the gap between qualification and employment. Learners want quick routes into the industry, but short courses don’t always offer critical experience like working with real clients, understanding retention or learning how facilities actually operate. This means that when graduates transition into employment, operators feel they don’t have the skills or confidence to meet the needs of the business.”
FitIQ Education addresses this through its centre of excellence approach, where graduates gain hands-on experience in clubs, work with clients and develop operational understanding to ensure they are genuinely job-ready.
Once certified, graduates will be automatically linked to work opportunities in their chosen location and discipline via CoverMe. The operating system lets professionals build their profiles, maintain compliance documentation, connect directly with operators and access opportunities aligned with their qualifications and availability.
Mair says:
“Looking ahead, we will use data and insights from the CoverMe system, such as demand for specific roles and the types of cover most frequently required, to continuously refine our courses. This allows us to better support learners, create stronger career pathways and respond to the changing needs of the industry.”
CoverMe works closely with a range of education partners including Hatton Boxing, Future Fit Training, Motion Fitness Education, The Fitness Group, Emma Newham Fitness and Pilates Union to support learners in transitioning into employment while helping operators meet their workforce needs. Acting as a trusted link between operators and education partners, CoverMe bridges the gap between learning and employment to create clear pathways into work.
